Topic "Post Ice Celebration" a message from Shane

During the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver Canada, I sit on my couch less than 100 miles from all the excitement. I often wonder what it would be like to go to Canada and watch some of the Olympic Events. Also wondering, if and when I will be this close to either the summer or winter Olympics again.

Of course, my curiosity melts away as soon as I see pictures of crowded streets, and venues. I personally like to avoid large groups of people, not out of fear or anxiety, more I simply do not like to have to wait to do things. So waiting in line to cross the boarder, waiting in traffic, waiting to park, waiting to get tickets, waiting to enter the building, waiting, waiting, waiting, is simply not for me.

Anyway, enough about me, last night the Canadians beat the US in Women's Hockey. Not a terrible surprise, they were both good teams, the Canadians were just a little better. What I did find interesting was the Canadians post celebration, and not just the first 10 minutes after the glory of winninng, but instead what they did 45 minutes later.

You can read the full article here:
http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/vancouver/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/IOC-to-investigate-Canadian-women-s-hockey-team-?urn=oly,224338

Basically, the women stayed on the ice, drinking and smoking cigars enjoying the heck out of their victory. Which they are certainly entitled to enjoy, but why remain on the ice? I know these women have seen a victory celebration before, either the SuperBowl or Graycup, the NBA finals, etc. The Men get their awards in public, say the right things to the camera, and then get into the comfort of their own locker room. Afterall, what happens in the locker room, stays in the locker room.

Well, not only did the Canadian women not leave the ice and retreat to the locker room, they celebrated on the ice with beer and cigars as mentioned earlier. The real shame in the whole ordeal is they had an 18 year old girl on their team (Marie-Philip Poulin), who was also enjoying the festivities. Now in the US, the drinking age is 21, and in Canada it is 19, so now what should happen?

Should she, a National Hero enjoying the moment, face misdemeanor charges of drinking underage? How about the people who gave her the beer, or the person who bought it in the first place? Can you say contributing to the delinquency of a minor?

Now personally I believe she should have been able to enjoy the post game celebration with her team, and if they were responsible with the drinking and no one drove, then I say no harm no foul. The point I take issue with is the stupidity of the team to celebrate on the ice for such a long time. If they had retreated to their locker room this would have been a non-issue.

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

Topic "Domain Name Servers" a message from reynoldsrj

In October of 2008 NSNA made a decision to consolodate its Domain Name Servers (DNS) to allow us to add additional servers without having to be concerned as to the type of server, location or the applications that may be on a specific type of server. We had been using DNS registrations from the companies we were our servers were located. Using vendor supplied DNS was easy and convenient to a point. But as we grew, we found managing various DNS servers was increasing complicated -- for us and for our clients. It was not infrequent that we would make a change that was befeficial overall, but inconvenient for a few as they had to go back to their domain registrars and reconfigure the DNS based on our new requirements.

We have been maintaining multiple DNS ever since, while begging people to modify their DNS to point to our current DNS servers: NS1.ProFusionWebsites.com and NS2.ProFusionWebsites.com. 15 months after our initial change, we decided to pull the plug on the remaining remote DNS server. As of Feb 15th, any site or email account that is not pointed to the appropriate ProFusionWebsite.com domain or does not have either their A Record (website location) or MX Record (Email location) pointed to our DNS servers or appropriately configured A Record/MX Record your site or email may stop working.

In most cases, if we are handling both your website and your email, then just point your domain to our DNS and things will begin working properly again. If we are not handling both your website and your Email, and you have manually modified one or both of these records while pointing your domain do a different DNS then contact us if your email is not working correctly or your website is not displaying. Since we have multiple servers and various IP addresses of these servers, in most cases, it is easier just to point your DNS to our servers and let us handle the redirection of your mail if you have your own Exchange Mail server or use some 3rd party application for Email.

This is a part of our "Everything you need for the web in one place." Just let us handle it, then you only have one support ticket to place if things are not working as expected.
edited by reynoldsrj on 2/22/2010
edited by reynoldsrj on 2/22/2010

A free application for quick image resizing can be found here http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm Resize your images before adding them to your website and it will not only look better, but it will also load faster.
